Pasadena Slot Car Raceway opened in October of 1978, 21 years 
ago.  We are in our eleventh year at our present location in Houston, 
Texas and are proud to have the FASTEST SLOT CAR RACING 
TRACK IN THE WORLD !!

Slot car racing is the worlds fastest Motor Sport !  Commercial 
raceways for 1/24th scale slot cars began spreading around the 
country and the world in the early 60's.  By the mid 60's it was 
the biggest hobby industry in the United  States.



This is the home (and hideout) of one of the world renowned 
champions of slot car racing, P.A. Watson.  If you watch carefully 
you might catch a glimpse of him.  He might even give you a hint 
or two if you ask nicely.  There is nothing better than to learn from 
the champion of champions.

P.A. has won 4 National Pro GP.7 Championships and 3 World Pro 
GP.7 Championships, which gives him more titles in the top division 
than any one else.  He is world renowned for the manufacture of 
tires for this recreational hobby and sport around the world.

P.A. has been running slot cars since 1962, but with the Vietnam War, 
drugs and rock music, slot cars had gone the way of the Yo-Yo.

In 1974 he was surprised to find Broadway Hobbies a slot car 
raceway in Pasadena, Texas.  He was immediately interested in 
the huge improvements in the cars since the last time he had seen
them.  He bought a car and a controller and began racing again a 
few weeks later.

Needless to say, four years later he bought the raceway and began a 
new direction in his life.  Pasadena Slot Car Raceway has become 
synonymous with the FASTEST TRACK IN THE WORLD, so they 
retained the name even in the move from Pasadena to Houston.

P.A. and his wife Kathleen, have committed themselves to slot car 
racing and hope that others who raced slot cars as a kid, will bring 
their own families in to experience it.

As we move into the new century, slot car racing is still very much 
like it was 40 years ago.  Yes, the cars go MUCH faster, handle MUCH 
better and cost a little more, but the basic concept is still the same.  
Like the Yo-Yo, slot car racing is alive and well.
